Background

Drs. Betsy Pfeffer and Tom Roland have been visiting Kampala Uganda twice a year since 2007 working collaboratively with Dr. Sabrina Bakeera-Kitaka, Pediatrician and Dr. Chris Ndoleriire, ENT and other Ugandan colleagues to help build local capacity in the disciplines of Adolescent Medicine and Otolaryngology. Their collaborative work has focused on educational initiatives, trainings, expansion of services, research collaborations, publications, and donations of needed materials. Qualified educators and physicians from the USA have traveled to Uganda as part of our team and Ugandan healthcare providers have periodically visited the USA to obtain necessary education and training. Because of the commitment of our wonderful Ugandan partners, we have been able to create a sustainable impact through the projects we have created. With continued support, these projects will grow and the health of adolescents and the hearing impaired in Uganda will continue to improve.
